Lenovo Thinkbook 15 Review: Best in Budget

Hi there,
Welcome to Techno Beyond. Today we are going to take the review of Lenovo Thinkbook 15 2020. Lenovo has done so much good thing in this laptop so let’s check out does it performs well for your bucks. So let’s get started.
Lenovo ThinkBook 15 Review 2020

  • Specs:

This variant is an i7 10 generation with 16GB ram and 512 gigabytes SSD. It costs around 80 000. But specs are completely subjective and everyone has a different need and budget. For online school work even an i3 will suffice probably even light office work will do but i5 and i7 will make things a lot snappier and you'll future proof your device for the years to come. If you have to do heavy video editing designing then an i7 with 16GB ram and then there is a variant with the radium graphic card that would be the most recommended choice.

  • Display:

The big 15.6 inch full HD IPS display it's huge and makes working on it such a breeze. In the current scenario kids are spending hours on online school every day so bigger display is always a huge plus. Colour reproduction is really good and punchy but not the most accurate. If you are watching videos and movies the big screen experience is amazing. You can also toggle the brightness using the keyboard shortcut as per your preference.
Since it's a full HD display no pixelation and the details are crisp and sharp. The display can go back all the way up to 180 degrees. In case you push it behind for better viewing angles at least you won't break it I’ll take it as a plus. The bezel on the display is also really slim which helps to create an immersive viewing experience. It also comes with anti-glare coating to help reduce glare and it really does a good job.

  • Keyboard:

The keyboard it's just perfect. The keyboard has a scissor switch mechanism and has very good travel and response. It’s one of the best keyboards on a laptop to type on fingers just roll on them the keys are held in very well and don't wobble. If you are someone who types a lot then this is going to be a treat for you. This is a full size keyboard so those who love to crunch in numbers on excel sheets it will be super convenient. The keys are also well spread out and also backlit which comes very handy when you're typing in the dark. Lenovo completely nails it when it comes to the keyboard department absolutely brilliant.

  • Build Quality:

The build is a mixed bag for me the back is made of metal and the overall build quality is solid. There are no scrubs or scratches. It held up pretty well but the device isn’t light it weighs about 1.7 kilograms which isn't too heavy also but for the size of the keyboard and the huge display you'll have to deal with that.

  • Trackpad:

The track pad is pretty functional and it didn't have any problems using it. It’s clicky and with that little travel it supports all the gesture controls. Most people are good to go with this size of the trackpad.

  • Security:

In terms of security it comes with a fingerprint scanner on the power button which is pretty fast to use and works really well.

  • Webcam and Mic:

The front built-in camera that comes with a physical shutter. This one is the biggest worry for many and Lenovo makes sure it does the needful. It might not matter to some but for me it should be a must on every laptop. The 720p front camera quality is decent nothing to rave about but it gets the job done for most video, calls Skype calls and online school. The mic on the laptop is also quite good and completely audible to the other side.

  • Speakers:

It comes with two Dolby atmos speakers. I didn't expect too much from them but they kind of surprised me they create a good stereo sound effect they get loud enough for calls and light music not too loud also but satisfactory. The speakers on the side below so if they're placed on the desk they even sound better.

  • Connectivity:

It also comes with Bluetooth so you can pair wireless headphones or a portable Bluetooth speaker to enhance your audio experience. Comes very handy during video calls and online classes. Coming to the ports Lenovo went all the way to make the users happy. Ethernet, full size HDMI port, USB A3 port, USB c, USB c charging, 3.5 headphone jack, and card slot everything is here.

  • Battery:

Lenovo claims 9 hours of battery life but it lasted about 7 hours which was actually quite good considering of heavy use. It comes with a 65 watt charger and it supports rapid charge which is extremely helpful.

  • Gaming:

This can handle medium level gaming pretty well but if gaming is your thing then you can look at the Lenovo legion series. Its sweet all that RGB lighting looks amazing.

  • Upgradability:

The best part about the Lenovo think book is its dependable and its specifications can be customized exactly as per your requirement. Choose your CPU starting from i3 to i7 operating system dos, windows 10 home or windows 10 pro. Type of RAM, hard disk or SSD and its size you can even go all the way up to one terabyte nvme SSD. Type of display IPS or tn. AMD Radeon graphic card Microsoft office bundle. The 15 inch think book variants start from 31000.

  • Downside:

So not everything is perfect the biggest downside is weight and size but still weight becomes secondary when your productivity increases with a bigger screen and a bigger keyboard. For those who are looking for something more portable you can consider the thinkbook 14 but trust me bigger will always be better. This is an i7 10 generation variant and the performance has been top notch from the start.

  • Opinion:

If you can extend yourself for a higher CPU and ram it'll only be better for a longer time. The best part is that you can customize the specifications exactly as you want on the Lenovo website.
If you're looking to buy a laptop with good display, excellent keyboard, all the ports that you ever wanted and webcam that offers privacy that you deserve then the Lenovo think book should be an option you should consider.
